Yes haven't we all had are innocence stolen by the cruel grasp of reality. Perhaps none so tantalizing a dream as the promise of your own home. Dreams are expensive to maintain, even modest homes need new roofs, cracks in the foundations attended to,rewiring and plumbing and the endless appliances required to keep life copacetic. Then there is the cost of transportation to the burbd, the promise of children to fill the house with laughter and un imagined debts.Education? Who can afford it and when is there time? I thoroughly enjoyed this piece and obviously could get together and expand for hours about the stupidity of the civilized world not to grasp the importance of striving for higher goals for the species than random and barely attainable baubles for the rest.With few exceptions,I can think of none,(perhaps I lack imagination or historical data) the rich got rich by lying, stealing , murdering and working to death all that stood in their way.
