I have written a poem . . .

Please leave a comment if you like it.

Your poem was lovely. It brought memories of when I felt my life has been wonderful. I hope I can get back to something sort of like that someday.

I started this comment a minute ago and the page disappeared. Perhaps I accidentally submitted it, or not. Anyway I originally went to comment about your social security story, before I noticed the poem. I sympathize--like you I worked 10 years in a job that contributed to my retirement in a way other than social security. The funny thing is they call that a "windfall!" Were you told you had a windfall? I qualify for some Social security but not the full amount. It's complicated but I'm afraid to ask them what my status is, in case they decide I've been overpaid. Reading your story makes me worry more. Aargh!

Thank you so much for your comments. I am glad you liked "My Other Life" - I had just reread it a few days ago and wondered if anyone would care for such a strange trippy story . . . and YOU did! I am gratified to learn that.

I finally got my SS money but they have reduced my amount, and it is beyond confusing to understand why. And like you, I fear having them look closer, that they will just take more money away, for sketchy reasons.

My final answer is that I am currently living inside my economic footprint . . . but still month-to-month, as I have all my life. I have money in a savings account, but it is really just a buffer consisting of all the non-monthly costs in my life.

This poem was devised by Jayne, who reformatted an email I wrote to her and pronounced it "a poem" - I may have made some minor changes but then just let it loose into the universe as is - a bit unpolished but gets the point across.

The dreams of happiness do not always manifest, but it is still good to have them.

Love, Shelley.
